Lipid Profile
A Lipid Profile is a straightforward blood test that measures different types of fats, including cholesterol and triglycerides, in your blood. It helps assess your risk of heart disease, stroke, and blocked arteries.
What it includes:
- - Total Cholesterol
- - Triglycerides
- - HDL Cholesterol (Good cholesterol)
- - LDL Cholesterol (Bad cholesterol)
- - VLDL
- - Cholesterol/HDL Ratio
- - LDL/HDL Ratio
Why it’s important:
High cholesterol and triglycerides usually present no symptoms, but can silently raise the risk of heart attack and stroke. Regular testing is important, especially if you have diabetes, high blood pressure, or a family history of heart disease.
Tip: Eat healthy, exercise, and get your Lipid Profile checked as advised by your doctor.
Note: A fasting lipid profile yields more accurate results, particularly for triglycerides.
